Was anything important happening at the time that would make people go or not go to the theatre?

During the time when Titus andronicus was being shown in theatre, there had been an out break of the bubonic plague during the years 1592-1594. This however is contradictory of the popularity of Titus andronicus as it was still liked by many but was however not approved of.

The Plague affected the theatre hard, people who had caught the plague were no longer able to attend the theatre and those who hadn’t were reluctant to attend due to fear and risk of catching it themselves.
